Nepal’s Automotive Industry Steps Up Support for PM Disaster Relief Fund

Nepal’s automotive industry has stepped up its support for communities affected by the devastating floods and landslides across the country, with major automotive companies and business groups announcing financial contributions toward relief and rehabilitation efforts.

Cimex BYD has announced a contribution of NPR 70 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support communities affected by the recent floods.

“In times like these, we stand together,” Cimex BYD said while announcing the contribution. The company also expressed its thoughts for affected families and those working on the ground as part of the ongoing relief efforts.

Meanwhile, MAW Group has contributed NPR 11.1 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund for relief and rehabilitation of families and communities affected by the recent floods.

The group said the contribution was made with the objective of supporting relief and rehabilitation efforts for those affected by the disaster.

Syakar Trading Company Pvt. Ltd., a company under the Padma Jyoti Group and the representative of Honda motorcycles and automobiles in Nepal, has also contributed NPR 10 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.

The company said the contribution is aimed at providing immediate relief and essential assistance, as well as supporting the long-term rehabilitation of families affected by the natural disaster.

Syakar Trading said the contribution demonstrates its solidarity with affected communities during the ongoing crisis. “We stand with all the families and communities affected during this difficult time. It is the company’s objective to make a meaningful contribution to relief and rehabilitation efforts.”

The company has also highlighted the importance of collaboration across different sectors in the government's ongoing relief, rescue and rehabilitation efforts. It said collective efforts will be important in helping affected communities restore normal life.

Maxus Nepal, in coordination with SAIC Maxus Automotive Co., Ltd., has announced total support of NPR 7 million toward relief and recovery efforts following the disaster.

Of the total amount, NPR 5 million is planned to be contributed to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund, supporting the government’s wider relief, rescue, rehabilitation and recovery initiatives.

The remaining NPR 2 million is planned to be used for the procurement and direct distribution of essential relief materials to communities in some of the most severely affected areas, in coordination with local-level governments.

The company said the initiative reflects the shared commitment of Maxus Nepal and SAIC Maxus toward Nepal and its people, extending beyond business and demonstrating their responsibility to support the country and its communities during times of hardship.

Maxus Nepal has also said it remains committed to implementing the announced support responsibly and transparently, with the aim of making a meaningful contribution to the ongoing relief and recovery efforts.
